Due to popular demand The Oslo Bloomsday Celebrations are back after a few years gap.
Buzz Productions Norway is proud to present this years programme - https://www.facebook.com/bloomsdayoslo/
Bloomsday is celebrated worldwide to commemorate the life and times of Irish author James Joyce. Bloomsday is named after the protagonist of Joyce's 1922 novel Ulysses, Leopold Bloom. The events of the novel take place on Thursday, 16 June 1904. Joyce chose to set his novel on this date as it was the date of his first date with his muse and future wife Nora Barnacle.
This years highlight will no doubt be Declan Gormans one man show THE DUBLINERS DILEMMA - https://declangorman.com/
In The Dubliners Dilemma, set in 1914, Gorman presents Grant Richards, a London publisher who previously rejected “Dubliners” but is now reconsidering the book. What should he do now? The streets and characters of Joyce’s Dublin come magically to life in all their sordid and comic glory in this solo performance, described as “compelling” (Irish Theatre Magazine); “ingenious” (Mail on Sunday) “truly mesmerising” (Metro Herald) and “effortlessly entertaining” (The Arts Review).
Costumes, while not not obligatory, are most welcome. We recommend Edwardian style costumes such as bowlers, straw boaters and waistcoats for the men, petticoats, bonnets and parasols for the ladies.
This event is supported by Culture Ireland and The Embassy of Ireland.
